Wireless Device Compatibility with Hearing Aids

As hearing aids have evolved, the ability to be more directly connected has also evolved. Most new hearing aids available today can be directly connected to a smartphone through Bluetooth and have connectivity to other devices such as tablets, iPad’s, etc. Hearing devices today have the ability to stream audio content from the smart device directly into the patient’s ear. This function utilizes the fine tuning amplification of the hearing devices to allow for the best listening experience for audio content from a cell phone. This includes phone calls, music, podcasts, audiobooks, navigation, and other audio content. Compatibility between the hearing aids and smart devices are important in the ability to stream audio content. In some incompatible smart devices for direct streaming, remote control of the hearing aids through an app may still be available. Your hearing healthcare professional will be able to direct compatibility questions with your specific devices as well. In the event that a smart device is not directly compatible with the hearing devices, an intermediary device may be used to achieve streaming ability if desired.

The following is a list of updated streaming compatibility with the most recent hearing aid technology and electronic devices:
