What's The Problem With A Little Noise?

Noise exposure is a common cause for hearing loss. Noise exposure can be the result of recreational noise or occupational noise. It is estimated that 22 million workers are exposed to potentially damaging noise levels every year. It is important if you are subjected to high noise levels to wear proper hearing protection. If you have questions about whether hearing protection should be worn in a specific environment, ask an audiologist. We can also assist in finding the best hearing protection solutions for you.

Noise exposure can cause a temporary hearing loss, a permanent hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and/or hyperacusis (increased sensitivity to sounds). The number one recreational noise exposure causing hearing loss is firearms and fireworks. Motorsports and live music are also very common situations for recreational noise exposure.

If you have continued exposure to high noise levels, it is important to have your hearing evaluated and to discuss the possible effects this noise exposure could be having on your hearing health.
